Description
Radiology is seeking to appoint an enthusiastic and motivated individual to help support the Nuclear Medicine and PET-CT service.The service undertakes specialised radiological investigations using radioisotopes, and the appointee will play an important part in supporting the delivery of the service.
The job involves supporting radiographers and other clinical staff, liaising with other departments, and supporting patients and their carers or relatives.
The post requires an individual who is keen to work as part of a team, and is interested in working with patients, supporting them through clinical examinations, and generally assisting the radiographers in running the service.
This post is fixed term for 12 months to meet the needs of the service.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.
The main function of this post is to support the wider team in arranging patient appointments involving: booking sessions; ordering isotopes; explaining procedures to patients over the telephone; sending out appointment letters; liaising with clinical staff to give advice to patients and relatives and liaising with clinical staff at the PET-CT scanning unit.
helping patients get changed; supporting patients who might be elderly or requiring emotional support; chaperoning and general stock top up etc.
The base for this post will be at the Wrexham Maelor Hosptial. Hours will be on a 'Bank' basis (as required e.g. covering sickness absences / or increase in service demand etc.) - and the service generally operates Monday to Friday with hours ranging from 7:45 am to 7:30pm.
