This role is contracted at Brandon Marsh Nature Centre, Brandon Lane, Coventry, CV3 3GW but follows all the agile working framework set which guides all roles at the Trust (i.e. a balance of office, site & home working where appropriate to the role).


Salary:

Grade 2b, £27,326 per annum

Job Purpose:

The Action for Nature Organiser will work with communities to build their collective power, facilitate action and effect change.

Reaching out to a diverse range of people, listening to their ideas, understanding their motivations and connecting people together to identify shared aims that will help take action for nature.


Key Responsibilities:

- **Empowerment, action and movement building*
  • Develop relationships and identify passions, interests, motivations, barriers to build a picture of people's lives in their neighbourhood / community.
  • Engage everybody and anyone ensuring inclusivity and equality by going to where people are.
  • Use stories and information to identify issues and analyse information to agree actions to take.
  • Build associations of people that can start to act cooperatively and collectively.
  • Empower and support individuals to identify and agree actions and create plans to improve their communities for people and nature, signposting to resources or providing advice as necessary.
  • Facilitate local, collective action on nature's recovery including developing and supporting campaigns.
  • Develop a culture of possibility within communities where people believe in their ability to create change and motivate and support people to take and share leadership.
  • Enable people to fight for sustainable change for the environment and for nature's recovery.
  • Connect people to nature using the pathways to Nature Connectedness and to others with shared interests and concerns.
  • Encourage groups and organisations to connect with and participate in wilder communities.
  • Work with colleagues across the Wildlife Trust movement to maximise Team Wilder impact and efficiencies.

- **Resources*
  • Work with colleagues within WWT and across the Wildlife Trust movement to develop a suite of resources to support Team Wilder participants.
  • Provide community organiser training to enable individuals to lead initiatives.
  • Provide practical support through training, toolkits and helping to coordinate on the ground activities.

- **Communications*
  • Take an active role in the Trust's social media at a local level interacting with other people's posts and creating engaging content.
  • Work with marketing colleagues, create compelling and engaging content for supporter communications.
  • Work with communities to create inspiring campaigns which encourage communities to engage with the nature on their doorsteps and adopt spaces for wildlife and people in their city.
  • Work with colleagues across teams and Trusts to develop and champion Team Wilder.
- **Measuring and showcasing impact*
  • Monitor engagement and evaluate impact and behaviour change.
  • Work with the communications teams to showcase projects, programmes, and action through maps and GIS storyboards. Following progress, capturing and recognising successes in order to encourage others to join in.
  • Support communities to monitor the wildlife in their local area through citizen science activities.
  • Capture stories and case studies of individuals and communities taking action, including through Trustled projects and wider public activity.
  • Deliver a programme of events to inspire more of the community to become involved using case studies of individuals and communities.
  • Develop and deliver new initiatives including competitions, awards and recognition schemes.

- **General Responsibilities**:
  • Promote the work, mission and vision of the Trust at all times.
  • Work across teams to develop and implement activity plans across the 2030 strategy business plan.
  • Use every opportunity commensurate with other duties to contribute to the Trust's membership recruitment, fundraising and engagement of people.
  • Ensure a high level of customer service in all dealings with the public.
  • Ensure continuous development of skills and knowledge required for the post, undergoing training and performance review as required by the Trust.
  • Work within all the policies and procedures of the Trust, ensuring own compliance with the Trust's health and safety policies and procedures and that of any resources
