Role outline


The Health and Safety Advisor will report to the Regional SHE Manager and will contribute to implementing and monitoring the SHE policies and arrangements on our Tee's Pipeline Project.

This will involve supporting and collaborating with the project team, internal and external stakeholders, auditing, monitoring and measuring SHE performance, assisting with SHE reports, sharing best practice and coordinating activities within the project team.


Main Responsibilities

Focused Business

  • Promote and act on Farrans ethos 'Nothing we do is so important that we cannot take the time to do it safely'
  • Assist in the implementation of Farrans' internal management system
  • Assist and support the Project Management
  • Enable Farrans to secure repeat business by exceeding client expectations
  • Develop effective working relationships with delivery team on site
  • Develop external relationships and attend SHErelated learning and networking events

Sustainable Growth

  • Participate in postproject reviews and lessonslearned exercises to ensure improvements are captured as part of the SHE improvement plans
  • Support the development of continuous improvement practices including SHE alerts, communication and knowledge sharing
  • Support the development and upskilling of key supply chain partners to achieve greater SHE performance e.g. internal training.

Responsibility

  • Positively influence SHE leadership behaviours by your own actions, set the standard and demonstrate high standards of ethics and professional integrity
  • Plan and conduct regular audits of site locations SHE practices and documentation
  • Assist with the audit programme for Farrans and client
  • Support and assist with incident investigations and reporting to ensure company operating procedures are implemented
  • Support the Project Manager regarding regulator queries and requests
  • Lead SHE agenda to ensure guidance and support is in place for project teams in relation to regulatory and client specific requirements
  • Assist the implementation of a Farranswide consistent management approach to SHE requirements

Empowering People

  • Be fully engaged and support the implementation of the SHEQ competency toolkit, using it as a tool for self development
  • Fully embrace and implement Farrans' performance management process, using it as a tool to set and deliver SMART technical and competency related targets and objectives
  • Coach, train and mentor Farrans' staff in SHE matters through the audit process, incident investigations and relevant project matters
  • Coach, guide and support Farrans' supply chain through prestart meetings, performance reviews etc. to secure their engagement and understanding of Farrans' SHE expectations
  • Prepare and deliver SHErelated training, briefings and CPD materials to facilitate staff promotion and progression

Customer Service

  • Establish and foster positive professional relationships with keys clients, consultants and suppliers
  • Provide SHE advice and support to project teams and supply chain during project mobilisation phase
  • Provide SHE advice and support to 'inprogress' project management teams
  • Prepare timely postaudit reports and identified actions to project and company management teams
  • Monitor the completion of corrective & preventative actions and the closeout of NCR's
  • Assist in the preparation of monthly SHE performance data and reports for management and senior leadership
  • Provide advice and guidance to project management teams
  • Provide feedback and communicate lessons learned/ best practice across the organisation

  • Develop and maintain an open, transparent and consistent approach to improving SHE standards, through the audit process, incident investigations and any SHE reviews
  • Continually critically assess Farrans' SHE standards and performance. Encourage and seek SHE innovations through internal SHE reviews, peer group meetings, supply chain reviews and client forums
  • Promote SHE performance and standards through local and nationwide memberships, affiliations and awards submissions.

Qualifications

  • Level 8 honours degree / Third level degree qualification in a relevant engineering, construction or SHE discipline.
  • NEBOSH Certificate
  • Full Driving Licence.

Skills & Experience required

  • To be considered for this role, you'll at least five years' experience working in construction SHE environment.
  • Strong proficiency in MS Offi
