Job - Clinical Specialist Paediatric Occupational Therapist
Location - The Portland Hospital, London
Contract Type - Permanent
Hours - Part time hours 22.5hrs over 3 days per week (8.45am - 5pm)
Salary Range:
- Competitive dependent upon skills and experience. This position is equivalent to a band 7 in the NHS.

As the Clinical Specialist Paediatric Occupational Therapist, you will report into the Clinical Lead and act as a source of clinical expertise on the management of patients admitted onto the wards (including Neuro Rehab, PICU and NICU) as well as those attendingas Outpatients.
The role involves providing specialist occupational therapy assessment and interventions to your own caseload of children with complex needs and work with the clinical lead to support the clinical development of staff and the growth and development of theservice appropriate to the needs of the hospital.
Duties & Responsibilities
- To provide expert Occupational therapy assessment and intervention to paediatric patients at the Portland Hospital and Harley Street Clinic as well supporting the clinical development of the occupational therapy team and service.
- To deputise and support the lead to cover leave and to meet service needs by carrying out administrative duties to assist in the day to day organization of the service, management and patient care. All staff are expected to respect the individuality, values,cultural and religious diversity of clients and contribute to the provision of a service sensitive to these needs.
- To provide expert Occupational therapy assessment and intervention across inpatients and outpatients.
- To provide effective clinical supervision, development and support to facilitate the education of staff members using highly developed clinical skills and theoretical knowledge.
- With support of the Clinical Lead, you will be responsible for identifying, implementing and promoting service evaluation, audit and research quality improvement initiatives within the Occupational therapy service and interdisciplinary team.
- To accept clinical responsibility for a designated caseload of patients and to organise this effectively and efficiently with regard to clinical priorities and use of time.
- To undertake specialist assessments of patients with complex presentations using expert clinical reasoning.
Skills & Experience
- HCPC registered
- Relevant Degree in Occupational Therapy
- Extensive experience in paediatrics
