Description

The Freedom to Speak Up Advisor will work alongside the Freedom to Speak Up (FTSU) Guardian and the Trust's leadership teams to support the organisation in becoming a more open and transparent place to work, where all staff are actively encouraged and enabled to speak up about their concerns safely.

The FTSU Advisor will work alongside the FTSU Guardian in the Corporate Affairs Team.

The Corporate Affairs team is a busy team covering a large portfolio, however we always find time for each other and support each other where we can.

Staff wellbeing and work-life balance is very important to the team and to NELFT. We embrace the Trust values, diversity, inclusion and the principles of a Just and Compassionate culture.

The FTSU Advisor's role is designed to contribute to achieving the following outcomes:

  • Workers throughout the organisation have the capability, knowledge, and skills they need to speak up themselves and to support others to speak up.
  • The FTSU policy and processes are clear and available to all staff, regularly assessed for their effectiveness and improved accordingly.
  • Individuals are supported when they speak up and barriers to speaking up are identified and tackled.
  • The Board and senior leaders maintain an oversight of the FTSU activity through working in partnership with the FTSU team (meetings, reports etc.).
  • Information provided by speaking up is used for learning and improvement.
  • There is a safe environment to speak up and speaking up is encouraged throughout the organisation.
  • The Board and senior leaders actively promote the FTSU culture throughout the Trust and work with the FTSU team to address barriers to speaking up and develop new ideas and initiatives.
  • FTSU culture is consistent throughout the organisation.

NELFT place a great deal of importance on new starters being properly welcomed and inducted into the Trust.

The induction will be held at our head office in Rainham, Essex.
