About The Role:
Are you an experienced freshwater scientist looking for a challenging and rewarding role? APEM's innovative water quality team is growing, and we are seeking a passionate and talented Principal Consultant to join us and make a positive impact.
Our team is also responsible for coordinating APEM's response to pollution incidents, and we are proud to be at the forefront of addressing these environmental issues.
We are excited to offer a growing range of services related to algal bloom and taste and odour compound assessment and management.
In addition, we offer Ecological Clerk of Works services to support clients in developing environmentally sustainable projects.About the role
As a Principal Consultant for APEM's water quality team, you will play a crucial role in leading and delivering high-quality projects related to water and sediment quality monitoring and analysis.
You will also be responsible for leading and contributing to cross-team and divisional projects, working collaboratively with colleagues to deliver exceptional results.
In addition to project delivery, you will have the opportunity to engage with clients through client meetings, site visits, and field surveys, ensuring that their needs are met, and their expectations exceeded.
We'll be looking to you to mentor and develop junior members of the team to help them grow and develop in their roles.
Your experience and insights will be invaluable in identifying opportunities for new work and expanding our reach and impact through effective sales and marketing activities.
Requirements:
- At least 5 years of professional experience.
- Expertise in at least one of the following areas (noting that applicants are not expected to cover all of these areas): water quality impact assessments, modelling, reservoir management, catchment management, algal blooms, taste and odour, lake nutrient budgeting, and lake restoration.
- Proficiency in project management and tender/proposal writing, including costing work.
- Solid understanding of key UK environmental legislation.
- Excellent Excel and Word skills, as well as data management and analysis skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with exceptional attention to detail.
- Possession of a valid driving licence.
Desirable:
- A relevant higher degree.
- Experience in project management of large, highprofile, or complex projects.
- Statistical analysis and modelling of large and complex environmental data sets.
- Line management experience.
- Professional accreditation or working towards it.
