SALT-Ed - Speech and Language Therapy in Education


An exciting opportunity has arisen to work as a Highly Specialist SLT within the school commissioned speech and language therapy service in Heywood, Middleton and Rochdale (HMR).

Our dynamic team work within local schools to develop the speech and language needs of their cohort in collaboration with the teaching staff.


The post-holder will provide specialist assessment and treatment/discharge recommendations to a range of children and young people with speech, language and communication difficulties in the schools commissioned service.

This is a specialist post working with young people with a history of Social and Emotional Mental Health difficulties, Social Communication Disorders and Significant Communication Needs.


Key Responsibilities of the Post:


To support and educate practitioners in a range of secondary and further education settings in relation to children and young people's speech, language and communication needs.


To liaise with and offer advice in the management and implementation of Speech and Language Therapy programmes and to monitor and evaluate progress and revise programmes accordingly.


To demonstrate a good degree of knowledge around young people's Social and Emotional Mental Health Difficulties, Complex Communication disorders and Trauma informed care, and how this relates to their communication needs.


To provide and demonstrate specialist evidence based programmes of care and follow care pathways and published evidence-based packages of care.


To provide leadership and support to junior members of the team including one to one supervision, IPDR, clinical supervision and first line management response where required.

To provide clinical expertise based on evidence based practice.

To work independently managing a caseload of clients with a range of SLCN
