The Job:


The Company:


I have been approached by a well-established family run Main Contractor who are in the market for a Building Services Cost Planner (Mechanical or Electrical).

They have been established for over 110 years going from strength to strength. They are prominent in the Commercial, Residential and Educational Sectors with projects ranging from £1 Million to £20 Million.


The Role:


The successful cost planner will be responsible for:

  • Provisions of all cost support for building services elements to bid submissions
  • Negotiations with clients and their cost consultants to establish the project budget
  • Production of accurate cost plans and supporting data
  • Production of accurate estimates and supporting documentation
  • Collection and review of live project and final account cost data to provide accurate benchmarking information
  • Liaison with commercial management team, including attendance at mid bid and post tender interviews with specialist subcontractors
  • Liaison with specialist suppliers & manufacturers to keep knowledge base up to date

Qualifications & Experience:


The successful cost planner will:

  • Be able to demonstrate successful M&E delivery of medium to large projects in business critical projects and data centres.
  • Have solid understanding of Engineering services systems both mechanical and electrical particularly applied to data centre
  • Have the ability to lead M&E cost modelling, cost planning and precontract Quantity Surveying Services
  • Have the ability to lead the management of design team outputs to M&E should cost parameters
  • Be competent in management and delivery across the whole capital project life cycle
  • Have demonstrable understanding of the Client's key objectives within the specified Sector(s).
  • Have a proven track record in ensuring project teams are motivated to achieve and exceed Clients' objectives
  • Be articulate in written and oral communication
  • Be a strong people management and emerging leadership skills
  • Have a track record to reflect experience working with specialist IT Developers and corporate end user clients
  • Hold a recognised qualification in an Engineering Services discipline
  • Have a track record in the successful delivery of pre and post contract M&E cost management services for commercial and residential developers particularly in London
