We are looking to employ a Maintenance Technician 16hrs per week, to join our existing team

Working days at present would be Monday and Friday, however this may change Must be willing to cover for holidays, when other person is off

may be occasional weekends there could also be some occasional on call


JOB TITLE:
Maintenance Person


REPORTING TO:
Directors
/Home Manager


JOB PURPOSE:

To carry out day to day maintenance on the fabric of the building, its services and grounds in order to ensure that the Care Home is maintained in a safe and efficient functional order.


SKILLS / ABILITIES Required:

Proven ability to work on own initiative and work as part of a team

A commitment to a service, which provides support to vulnerable individuals, and which is respectful and according to the individual's wishes

Good communication skills, both written and verbal. Ability to communicate effectively with Clients, colleagues, Managers and other persons with a legitimate interest in the service Decorating skills

Good all round general DIY skills

EXPERIENCE Required:


  • Experience of driving
  • Proven ability to complete day to day general repairs and maintenance to a safe & high standard

  • Experience of working in a care/support setting; ideally within older Clients services

EDUCATION, SPECIALIST KNOWLEDGE AND QUALIFICATIONS

Required:


  • Good general education
  • Working knowledge of health and safety issues
  • Current, valid driving license

Desired:

fire safety, first aid, manual handling, and Health & Safety awareness


OTHER

Required:

Satisfactory DBS Check and check against the DBS List (where applicable)

Self-motivation and flexibility

Honesty, reliability and trustworthiness


MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES
Maintain the Care Home's internal and external environment by completing basic repairs as and when required.


Report and action any known defects to appliances, damaged furniture / equipment and any other potential hazards to the Home Manager, who will advise accordingly.

Carry out any decoration as and when required in order to maintain
standard of Care Home.

Test the fire alarm system, and record results, weekly.

Check call points, fire exits, door retaining devices and fire emergency lights, and conduct all other checks referred to in the Maintenance Manual, as specified in Company procedures.

Test, and record, water temperatures as specified in Company procedures.

Maintain a "Maintenance Book" in which defects are recorded by Staff Members. Use this book to effect repairs/replacements daily.

Assist/supervise with deliveries to the Care Home. Monitor delivered goods closely.

Gardening and maintaining the grounds and carpark


Training and Development:
Attend mandatory training days/courses, on or off site, as and when required

Maintain professional knowledge and competence


Health and Safety:
Complete daily/weekly/monthly health & safety checks e.g. water temperatures, fire records, wheelchair maintenance etc.
