Transport for the North

  • Role overview:
  • TfN's Research and Economics Team undertakes cuttingedge research and analysis to understand the transport needs of the diverse places and populations of the North of England, and to make the case for strategic interventions in the transport network. Our research has a central role in providing the evidence base for TfN's Strategic Transport Plan, which sets out TfN's longterm vision for a transformed North of England. It also contributes to the development of business cases for major road and rail interventions across the North, and supports Local Transport Authorities in developing high quality local transport networks.
  • As a Research Officer within the team, you will deliver strategic research and analysis that supports TfN to make the case for transformational investment in transport in the North. You will be involved in all stages of the research process, including undertaking literature reviews, working with internal and external stakeholders to identify evidence requirements, developing research methodologies, undertaking primary and secondary data collection and data analysis, and presenting findings to stakeholders and decisionmakers in a range of formats.
