Job Summary:


As an EHC Plan Writer, you will play a critical role in ensuring that children with special educational needs (SEN) receive appropriate support by drafting high-quality Education, Health, and Care (EHC) Plans.

You will interpret statutory processes outlined in the SEN Code of Practice, adhere to strict timescales, and prioritize workloads effectively.

Your responsibilities will include liaising with various stakeholders, drafting clear and comprehensive EHC Plans, interpreting complex information from professional assessments, and contributing to the development of best practices and procedures.


Key Responsibilities:


  • Interpret and adhere to the principles and statutory processes described in the SEN Code of Practice.
  • Ensure that statutory timescales for EHC Plan development are strictly adhered to.
  • Prioritize workloads effectively to meet deadlines and manage competing demands.
  • Liaise with parents, SEND Casework Officers, health and social care professionals, Educational Psychologists, specialist teachers, head teachers, and staff from schools and colleges to keep all parties informed throughout the process.
  • Draft wellwritten, easytoread, and jargonfree EHC Plans that accurately reflect the needs of individual children.
  • Interpret sensitive and complex information from professional assessments relating to children with special educational needs, health needs, and social care needs.
  • Ensure that EHC Plans meet legal requirements and are capable of withstanding external scrutiny.
  • Identify any gaps or discrepancies in the reports provided by assessments and seek clarification as needed.
  • Contribute to the development of best practice and procedures relating to education, health, and care plan writing.
  • Prepare evidence to support mediation and tribunals, as required.

Person Specification:


  • Excellent understanding of the SEN Code of Practice and statutory processes relating to EHC Plans.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize workloads effectively.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to liaise effectively with parents, professionals, and stakeholders.
  • Exceptional writing skills with the ability to draft clear, concise, and jargonfree EHC Plans.
  • Ability to interpret complex information from professional assessments accurately.
  • Attention to detail and ability to identify gaps or discrepancies in reports.
  • Commitment to ensuring that EHC Plans meet legal requirements and are of high quality.
  • Ability to contribute to the development of best practice and procedures.
  • Experience in preparing evidence for mediation and tribunals is desirable.

Job Types:
Full-time, Fixed term contract

Contract length: 3 months


Pay:
£15.17-£19.72 per hour

Expected hours: 37 per week
