Description

Hackney Council is looking for someone with a background in private sector housing to help make a difference to tenants' lives.

One in three households in Hackney now rents in the private sector. Housing across London is experiencing unprecedented pressure, with rents rocketing as demand increases. Hackney's Mayor has pledged to tackle poor conditions and management concerns.

We need people like you - keen to make a difference, who understand the impact housing issues have on the health and wellbeing of residents.

You will help us respond to our customers' needs, providing services on-line to make our response more accessible and efficient.

You will use a wide range of data and intelligence to target enforcement on properties and landlords where it matters most.

We help prevent homelessness by helping tenants stay in their homes.

Above all, you will be part of our team working to ensure private sector housing is safe and well managed for the people living there.

Hackney is one of the UK's highest performing local authorities, serving one of London's best places to live and work.

We have achieved a huge amount:
our services, our schools, our public spaces are all amongst the very best. We have changed the reputation, not just of the Council, but of Hackney itself. Bringing jobs and investment into the borough, making this a place of which we can all be proud.

You must have experience of private sector housing in a local authority context, have a solid understanding of the relevant legislation and be ready to take on a management role.

You will also need a Degree or Diploma in Environmental Health or equivalent.
