CNC Machinist.


Job location:
Barton under Needwood.


Shifts:
Days


Pay rate:
£16 per hour.

Hours per week: 44.

Hours: 7am to 5pm Monday to Thursday, 7am to 1pm on Friday.

Duration:
contract. 6 months+


Start date:
immediate.


Client Summary:
Leading manufacturer and front line supplier of powertrain products based in the UK and Ireland. Areas of expertise include Engine Overhaul, final Drive Overhaul and locomotive refurbishment.

Position Summary:
A keen eye for detail and great mechanical aptitude are also essential. The goal is to produce high quality parts and materials by programming machines to perform the right operations. Prepare and operate CNC machines to perform tasks such as drilling, grinding,milling etc. The CNC Operators must be a highly skilled professionals, able to work with great concentration and precision. The operator must be responsible and comply with all safety guidelines

Roles can include:

  • Prepare and operate CNC machines to perform tasks such as drilling, Turning, milling etc
  • Understand specifications of the task at hand and the desired result by reading drawings and working from viable instructions.
  • Translate instructions into computer commands so the machines can perform the correct function
  • Prepare and load raw materials and parts onto the machines
  • Prepare a test run to check if the machines produce outputs according to specifications
  • Set machines to complete full cycles to fabricate large number of parts
- must have an understanding of Fanuc machines preferable milling.

  • Performing inspections of equipment, structures, materials, and products.
  • Analysing information and finding the best solutions to problems.
  • Maintaining clear and honest communication at all times.
  • Keeping the work environment safe.
  • Mentor trainees / apprentices when applicable
  • Work to and support all relevant 5S activities
  • Report any near misses

Person Profile/Experience:

  • Minimum 1 2 years' experience in relevant rail or automotive industry.
  • CNC machining experience.
  • Recognised engineering qualification preferred.

Qualifications:

  • Relevant engineering qualifications but not a necessity for an experienced person.
