Our team
The Strategy & Communications, Standards & Oversight team is a diverse group of multi-disciplined individuals bound by an ambition to deliver outstanding public services in partnership with the private and 3rd sectors.
Our team is accountable for delivering four objectives:
- Set and deliver the Strategy for the Government Commercial Function;
- Develop and deliver the Function's Communications & Engagement Plan across the public sector commercial community;
- Set and benchmark organisations against GovS 008: The Commercial Standard; and
- Set up and operate the Procurement Review Unit, in addition to delivering the existing Public Procurement Review Service.
We are also responsible for the day-to-day management of the Strategy, Assurance & Standards Team, which includes the team delivering the Commercial Control.
About the roles
The Communications Executives play a critical part in developing, delivering and evaluating the GCF's Communications and Engagement Strategy. This includes virtual and in-person events, editorial content, videos and online engagement platforms.
We are seeking creative and outgoing communications professionals with a passion for engagement to deliver high quality communications products to our audience of 12,000+ commercial professionals across the public sector.

Planning & evaluation
- Lead on the regular collection, analysis and internal publication of evaluation data for all of our communications products. Recommend changes to our approach to improve our outcomes.
- Work collaboratively as a member of the GCF Communications & Engagement Team to produce and deliver a 1218 month communication plan, ensuring a balanced calendar of events, webinars and written content is delivered throughout the year.
- Support the delivery of regular engagement meetings by producing minutes and actions.
- Give support to other members of the team delivering specific campaigns.
- Help lead the planning and delivery of the annual GCF Conference and other key events
Post 1:
Manage the delivery of our regular communication products
- Working with the GCF Communications & Engagement Team and stakeholders across the GCF to identify stories and articles which should be shared with the community.
- Plan content for monthly products to align with other campaigns being delivered in the team.
- Collate, edit and secure approval to publish regular products on time.
- Continuously improve the format and content of our regular products based on analytics and qualitative feedback.
Post 2:
Support the development of our online content and commercial community.
- Publish content regularly across our networks, and promote network membership.
- Support the production of online events led by our key networks.
- Support continuous improvement of the GCF networking platform to ensure content is relevant, up to date and engaging.
- Manage all aspects of the GCF's social media channels.
- Oversee our GOV.UK publications and content to make sure it is relevant and well organised.
Person specification:
Essential criteria:
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to relate to people at all levels.
- Exceptional proofreading skills.
- Strong copy writing skills and the ability to deliver compelling and engaging communications to a variety of different audiences.
- Highly organised with the ability to prioritise competing tasks according to the overall goals of the team.
- Experience in writing content for publication across a wide audience and set of platforms.
Highly desirable criteria:
- Experience working within an internal communications environment.
- Working knowledge of creative design products to include Adobe Creative Suite apps Premier Pro, Photoshop and InDesign.
- Experience of event management.
