Description

As part of the Portering Team, to provide a comprehensive portering waste service of a high standard across the whole hospital.

To provide a waste service, including the moving waste both Clinical & black bag waste between wards and departments including A&E to the main waste compound.

To provide a waste service, including the moving waste both Clinical & black bag waste between wards and departments including A&E to the main waste compound.

To collect scrap items including furniture, WEE etc. from wards & departments and store appropriately in the main waste compound.

To ensure full utilization of the automated guided vehicles.

Ensure all waste streams are segregated and compacted into the correct container.

To ensure all waste bins are decanted into the correct waste streams and stored correctly as per the current waste, health & safety regulations

Ensure all waste bins are cleaned and stored correctly

Keep the waste compound clear and tidy at all times

To ensure safety of staff, contractors & visitors.

The operation of certain machinery such as the computer and associate soft ware

Reporting mechanical defects of all equipment and services and need for repairs.


The promotion and maintenance of Health and Safety and ensuring that all practices comply with COSHH regulations, as directed by the Portering supervisors & Facilities Management.

To maintain confidentiality.

To attend Trust statutory and mandatory training.


To Work as part of the Portering team, Ensuring all waste is moved and cleared in a timely and appropriate manner, and embrace the porters team culture and work ethics.
