Being an intern at The Sun is a gateway to a great career in journalism. During this paid internship you will get full training, 5 days a week with The Sun doing the job and gaining market leading experience.


The Role:

You will spend time with our industry leading sports editorial team; learning how to create articles and pitch ideas for one of the country's most popular sports desks.

You will have a particular focus on this summer's FIFA Women's World Cup, helping to pitch ideas and create articles in anticipation of the tournament, throughout and after.

You'll learn everything we can teach you about how to create content, tell and share stories, attract, grow and capture an audience.


You will receive mentoring and coaching bespoke to you and delivered by some of the most experienced and journalists in the industry.


At the end of the 6 month programme you'll complete your internship with great experiences, knowledge and network in journalism.

What we are looking for from you:

  • Excellent writing skills with the ability to deliver vibrant, clean copy to very tight deadlines.
  • Knowledge of football, particularly women's football, is a must.
  • Passion for all things news and a keen interest in womens sport journalism.
  • Flexible attitude to working hours across seven days including evenings and weekends in line with breaking news.
  • An understanding of The Sun brand, both print and digital.
  • Positive cando attitude and good team player.


More than anything you have a passion for learning and will grab this opportunity with both hands with the aspiration of being a creative force.
