The primary purpose of the role is to be fully responsible for the management of the materials within a given range of suppliers, ensuring close engagement and liaison in order to meet the demands of our customers

Specific Responsibilities

Take responsibility for the management of project demand and supply of the given project requirements.
Act as a proxy in absence of the Materials Manager.
Working alongside the Production Planning team, schedule material in to support the build plan, and at the same time maintain optimal inventory levels.
Maintain an organised open order book.
In conjunction with the SQA team, ensure that nonconfirming material is returned to supplier, and replacements are issued.
Broad range of supply chain skills focused on: Negotiation, technical understanding, supplier management and risk management.
Supporting indirect procurement as necessary.

Experience/Knowledge

CIPS/APICS qualified or equivalent preferred.
Experience in SAP or similar ERP system
Extensive experience of material control in a manufacturing, engineering and production environment essential
Experience in purchase order scheduling and expediting essential
Able to manage demanding external and internal stakeholders.
Familiarity with defence procurement and commercial sales processes preferred
Good MS Office skills, particularly Excel essential
