We are looking for an enthusiastic and friendly person to work as part of a small but essential team within the MSK Directorate as Orthotics Office Assistant.


You will be part of a small team within Orthotics, and with wider links to MSK service and allied healthcare professionals, that plays an important part in patient treatment pathways.


The successful applicant will be helping with patient enquires, clinic booking, reception duties and completing appointment outcomes on patient information systems as well as assisting with equipment orders and deliveries.

To provide administrative support to the Orthotic Dept. The post holder will also assist in co-ordinating the requesting and supply of Orthoses for patients. This will include booking appointments for patients, tracking and processing orders.

  • To undertake reception duties including the registration of Patients and to ensure the production of any relevant paperwork.
  • To direct Patients to the correct area of the department as appropriate
  • To undertake the booking of appointments according to needs of department.
  • To handle enquiries from whatever source in an appropriate, timely and courteous manner.
  • To become familiar with and maintain detailed knowledge of all office procedures
  • To be aware of the emotional state of Patients / relatives and take appropriate action as necessary.
  • To Assist in coordinating the Orthotic Service to maintain a highquality patient centred approach
- that is flexible to both the patients and the Trust's needs.

  • Assist in managing the Orthotic and the wig clinics.
  • Assist in the order and supply of Orthotic appliances in conjunction with the
  • Orthotist's/Consultants directions and in accordance with Trust policies.
  • Accept ordered goods into the department and ensure they are received by the appropriate
- patients.

  • Receive payment for certain Orthotic appliances from patients following National and local
- prescription and charging guidelines.

  • To accurately use departmental computer systems, inputting data and retrieving information accurately.
  • Maintain confidentiality of information about patients, staff and other health service business.
  • To contribute to and assist in Service improvement, developing and enhancing the overall service to meet the continuing needs of the department and its users
  • To liaise with colleagues, other health professionals, patients and public where necessary to ensure a quality service is delivered
  • To take an active part in the annual performance and development review producing a
  • Personal Development Plan in accordance with directorate needs and resources.
  • To support the training of new members of staff by guiding them as necessary in the work area.
