About the role

West Northamptonshire Council (WNC) are looking for a confident and proactive person to join the Property Services team as a Facilities Officer.


This role will cover WNC's corporate properties including One Angel Square and County Hall, with the majority of time being spent at One Angel Square.


You will need to be enthusiastic, people focused and happy to work on your own initiative with an ability to multitask and prioritise effectively.

You will work within a close knit team of 3, who work together to ensure the Corporate Buildings are maintained and operate safely and effectively.

Previous Facilities Management experience desirable but not essential. A full clean driving licence is also preferable.


Main responsibilities/duties include:

  • Attending reactive call outs to deal with various Hard / Soft Facilities Management tasks such as carrying out minor carpentry, plumbing, electrical repairs.
  • Inspecting and maintaining the plant equipment, calling out contractors where required.
  • Administration duties utilising Word, Excel and Outlook as well as internal CAFM systems.
  • Supervising and assisting Contractors on jobs.
  • Carrying out inspections and completing Checklists.
  • Following and monitoring Health and Safety processes.
The role will be working 37 hours a week, Monday - Friday (e.g. 8am-4pm or 9am-5pm) with very occasional out of hours work.

The council is in the process of implementing a new pay structure and terms and conditions which will be applicable to this role.

The outcome could result in a future variation to the advertised salary, and this will be discussed at interview.
