The Valuations Group in Product Control is a global team responsible for all aspects of the calculation of Fair Value for traded instruments in Global Markets and additionally undertake oversight and support for fair value calculations across the rest of HSBC Group (predominantly Global Banking and Corporate Centre).

The Valuations and Analytics Group is part of Global Product Control and is split into 4 main areas of Quantitative Analytics including Models, Fair Value Methodology and Production, and Reporting Governance & Analysis.


We are currently seeking an expert individual to join this team in the role of Technical Lead - Reporting, Governance & Analysis (Product Control).


In this role, you will:

  • Lead on all technical issues and topics in the Analysis, Reporting and Governance teams within V&A. The role is primarily responsible for coordinating and producing the technical output around valuation specific based reporting, commentary technical analysis and information for Product Control supported activity, including those for regulatory driven disclosures and Regional/Global Valuation committee packs;
  • Responsible to provide, and drive meaningful analytical capability for Product Control and Valuations to cover Models, Methodology, VA numbers. The role holder will be responsible for assisting in setting up the infrastructure that will cover reporting analysis on internal controls as well as risk indicators and predictive analysis;
  • Responsible assisting in producing meaningful technical analysis and analytical output to support the execution of a robust control environment and ensuring the accuracy of HSBC financial statements specifically in relation to establishing fair valued for traded products across the Group;
  • Must assist and be primarily responsible for completing all the regulatory returns and disclosures that for a part of HSBC's Annual Reports and Accounts (ARA). The holder will run the team that will be the primary contact point within HSBC on queries in relation to ARA to internal/external stakeholders including regulators;
  • Be expected to contribute significantly to ongoing projects and key workstreams in the Valuation reporting space which are tied to the strategic direction of Product Control and the Business. These workstreams have a global impact driving both tactical and strategic infrastructure projects forward, supporting business strategy, process automation & organizational change;
  • Drive regulatory engagement and responses and will work closely with the Head of Valuation Risk and the Head of Valuation Transformation to deliver on an infrastructure that supports the future vision for Valuations and Analytics.
Requirements

To be successful in this role you should meet the following requirements:

  • Experience working within either a Financial Markets or Treasury department;
  • Good understanding of Financial Markets (products traded and their life cycle, accounting principles and valuation techniques);
  • Valuation/ Product Control experience;
  • Strong analytical background (either qualified or qualified by experience);
  • Experience of building and maintaining strong relationships with stakeholders.
The base location for this role is London and with a hybrid working pattern.
