This is an exciting opportunity to join a Brighton and Hove City Council commissioned service working with 14-25 year olds who are at risk of homelessness due to conflict or relationship breakdown in the family home.

The Family Mediation Team provide a safe space to talk through issues with a trained mediator.

Working within the busy Youth Advice Centre (YAC) in Brighton, you will be part of an energetic team delivering innovative frontline services to young people.

You will be working in the Family Mediation team and will work alongside the Housing Advice team to provide a homelessness prevention pathway.

You will deliver a high-quality service that enables clients to overcome the barriers they face and manage the difficulties they experience.

You will provide face to face mediation sessions with young people and their families and crisis intervention support with young people presenting at the Youth Advice Centre as homeless.

You will also provide parenting support and guidance.

This role will be based on site at the YAC in Brighton, with a shift pattern of 6 hours per day on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays, this shift pattern can be negotiated.

A successful applicant will be a skilled and experienced mediator, ideally with experience of working with vulnerable young people and their families.

You will have a good understanding of a range of appropriate therapeutic intervention models and a robust understanding of both child and adult safeguarding legislation and practice.

You will also thrive in a busy team environment.

YMCA DLG requires all staff and volunteers to be committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people, and vulnerable adults and to respond proactively to safeguarding concerns. Successful applicants are required to undertake an Enhanced Disclosure (including the Children's barred list and the Adults' barred list) **via the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS).
