Description

An opportunity has arisen within the Medicine Division for a dedicated and methodical Administrator to provide support to the Cardiology Service.

The role will involve working closely with technicians, secretarial colleagues and patients, providing a comprehensive service.

The post holder will be responsible for handling telephone calls, photocopying, data inputting and booking of appointments as well as being the first point of call for patients.


Essential requirements for the post:

Previous office experience in a NHS health care setting

Appropriate literacy/numeric skills (to GCSE standard or equivalent)

Excellent communication and organisational skills

The job holder will provide administrative and clerical support across the service. This includes;

  • Checking patients into clinic, ensuring patient details are correct
  • Booking appointments, booking patient transport and interpreters and cashing up clinics as necessary.


The job holder will also ensure that all outpatient and booking admissions activity data and referral to treatment data is recorded accurately, entering patient outcomes onto relevant IT systems in accordance with the Patient Access Policy.

The job holder will deal with telephone calls and face to face enquiries from the public, staff, and other Health Care Providers, ensuring that they are dealt with accurately, in a timely, polite and courteous manner.


The job holder will have extensive involvement with Clinicians, Service Managers and other admin staff from across the Trust to ensure that patients are treated in accordance with the Trust's policy and procedures.

The job holder will contribute to the development of efficient and lean processes to ensure an efficient service.
