The Nottingham Shoulder & Elbow Unit (NSEU) has run a fellowship since 1992 and many past fellows have become national leaders in Shoulder and Elbow Surgery in the UK or their home country.

The fellowship offers advanced training across the breadth of shoulder and elbow surgery including the management of complex shoulder fractures, primary and revision arthroplasty of the shoulder & elbow.
NSEU:
407 primary TSR, revision TSR, 32-37 primary TER & 17 revision TER.
(NJR National Shoulder & Elbow Unit average = 47 primary TSR, 8 revision TSR, 7 TER & 4 revision TER).
NSEU undertakes a significant number of arthroscopic and open shoulder & elbow cases.The appointee will have the opportunity to attend clinic at the National Centre for Sports & Exercise Medicine Unit at Loughborough University with Mr Geoghegan.
The unit is involved in a growing number of NIHR projects and is developing a research support unit for elective orthopaedics.

We are a tertiary-level lower limb service performing complex revision hip and knee replacements for patients within our catchment and the surrounding areas.
We have an annual budget in excess of £682m of public sector funding and employ over 13,000 staff.As an MTC, NUH is a multi-specialty hospital, on a single site, optimised for the provision of trauma care. It is the focus of the Trauma Network and manages all types of injuries, providing consultant-level care.
Detailed job description and main responsibilities
Working alongside the predominantly elective surgeons specialising in shoulder and elbow surgery. the postholder will attend all elective clinics and theatres across the City hospital campus and the Treatment Centre (QMC site)
On call commitment covering the elective orthopaedic unit currently on a 1:9 basis.

Essential criteria
- GMC Registration
- MRCS (or equivalent)
- FRCS (Tr & Orth)

- Previous registrarlevel experience in T&O Surgery
- CCT in Trauma & Orthopaedics

Salary:
The quoted salary will be on a pro rata basis for part time workers.
