Here at Lakeside, we strive to change young, vulnerable lives every day and as a Designated Safeguarding Lead, you'll have the chance to help us. With your help, our professionals can support children and young people with special educational needs.


You will take lead responsibility for safeguarding within the school, this means that on a daily basis you will be liaising with statutory and non-statutory agencies, parents/carers and staff on matters of wellbeing, child protection and safeguarding and will be a great source of support, advice and expertise in the team.


Quite simply, we will look to you to make sure our children and young people's needs are fully recognised and comprehensively met.

You will work as part of the school's Senior Leadership Team and report directly to the Head Teacher for this crucial role.

You will have the opportunity to collaborate with other members of the Witherslack Group team in different locations to enable you to progress and develop your skills and knowledge.

It is equally important to undertake regular training to ensure your knowledge and skills are up to date and to be able to keep accurate written records as required.


To join us, you will ideally have at least 3 years' experience of being in a Designated Safeguarding Lead position previously with a comprehensive portfolio of CPD related to Safeguarding and Child Protection., Experience of using Microsoft Office and other IT based systems would also be valuable together with outstanding interpersonal and problem resolution skills.

A genuinely empathetic approach is also essential.

Finally, you must be ready to take the lead and use your initiative, and you will need a full UK driving licence.
