AFTER SCHOOL CLUB PLAYWORKER - Required from September 2023

Salary Grade - Unqualified playworkers Band 1 Pt 2, hourly rate £10.90

Monday - Friday

12.5 hours per week - 3:15 pm pm (term time)

Term time only (38 weeks)

Reports to:
Club Lead and Headteacher / SLT

Responsible for:
Care of children during After School club

Desirable:
Recognised Level 2 or 3 qualification in Playwork or Childcare and Education


The Governing Body are seeking to appoint an After School Club Playworker to join our dedicated, supportive and friendly staff, committed to achieving the highest standards, to start as soon as possible.

Kingsway Primary & Nursery School is a small sized school, set just off the M60 in Davyhulme, Manchester.

References will be sought prior to interview.

As Playworker:

Main duties include:

  • To assist with planning, preparing and delivering quality play opportunities within a safe and caring environment.
  • To provide comprehensive care for the children including collecting them from school/nursery classrooms and delivering them safely to parents or carers.
  • To provide refreshments and ensuring that hygiene, health and safety standards are met.
  • To administer first aid when necessary.
  • To consult with children and involve them in planning activities.
  • To helping with club administration, including record keeping, ordering and purchasing materials and equipment, where necessary.
  • To encourage child and parental involvement in the club and support.
  • To facilitate good communication with all members of the club, parents, school and childcare and play related agencies.
  • To attend meetings as appropriate
  • To undertake appropriate and relevant training.
  • To keep the work environment healthy, safe and secure.
  • To carry out all responsibilities and activities within an equal opportunities framework.
  • To work within agreed club policies and procedures including safeguarding, behaviour management, Health and Safety
  • To deal with all confidential matters with tact and discretion
  • Attend to the toileting and personal hygiene of pupils
  • Such other duties, as may reasonably be required, within the grading of this post.

Additional Duties include:

  • Assist the Club lead and children in a club setting; groups and/or individuals
  • Support all pupils and staff within the school
