SF Recruitment have joined forces with a company in Edgbaston, currently seeking an Human Resources Advisor for a full-time, hybrid role.


Offered Salary:
up to £35k

Main responsibilities:

  • Work collaboratively with the HR team to implement the HR strategy and contribute to the overall strategic HR goals set each year.
  • Provide timely, high-quality advice and guidance to Governors, Heads, senior managers, and Department Heads on employment law, HR policies, and best practices.
Ensure compliance with relevant employment laws, DFE, EFSA, and OFSTED guidelines, as well as school policies in staff recruitment, training, and management.

  • Offer guidance and oversee the execution of recruitment, compensation, and change management processes.
  • Assist in monitoring the effectiveness of wellness initiatives.
  • Support the Head and senior leaders in recruitment activities, including participating in interview panels as a trained member adhering to safe recruitment practices.
    • Oversee the management of the School's Single Central Register according to Safer Recruitment guidelines to ensure compliance.
    Stay updated on changes affecting the Central Register and communicate procedural changes to staff (including ensuring compliance with the Disclosure Barring Service administration).

    • Advise senior leaders on all staff-related issues, taking a lead role in preparing documents for formal disciplinary, grievance, and capability procedures, and attending meetings as needed.
    • Ensure effective communication with staff on HR matters and serve as the primary point of contact for Department Heads and staff seeking HR guidance.
    • Monitor and review sickness absences, take appropriate actions such as referrals to Occupational Health, and provide advice to managers on phased return-to-work plans.
      • Manage the performance appraisal system for all school staff.
      • Identify training needs for support staff, including induction processes, organizing relevant training sessions on safeguarding, and School-specific health and safety.
      Deliver coaching and training to managers on HR protocols and procedures.
    • Participate in various HR projects and take ownership of assigned tasks.
    • Supervise the HR system administration and authorize salaries, allowances, and leaves.
    Collaborate with the central HR team to assist in reviewing, creating, and implementing HR policies and procedures.

    • Coordinate with the Academy Finance Manager on staffing requirement changes and associated budget considerations, participating in academy finance committee meetings when necessary.
