Description
The British Red Cross provides Emergency Response in times of crisis.

We're among the first to respond when there is a fire, flood or severe weather.

From making a cup of tea to trekking through snow and sleet to deliver the essentials, we work with other organisations to do what's needed straight away.

This service operates 24/7 and is staffed by volunteers on an on-call rota.

To be a part of this Emergency Response Service, we are looking for volunteers who:

  • Can be on call for 2 shifts per month on a 24/7 rota, shift times midnight , or midnight.
  • Attend team meeting nights second Thursday of each month at Adelaide House, Belmont Business Park, Durham, DH1 1TW
  • Can get to the Durham & Darlington Fire & Rescue Service Fire Station, Belmont Business Park, Durham DH1 1TW, within 30 minutes.
  • Have held a driving licence for at least 2 years which allows you to drive in the UK, have access to your own vehicle and be willing to drive a Red Cross vehicle

We will also have a conversation with you to discuss any restrictions that may still be in place in your region and identify any adjustments you may need.
