Campaigns Officer (Fixed term - Full or Part time, 12 months initially)

Salary:
£20,085 per annum FT (or pro rata)

9am to 5pm

Based at Redwings Hapton, Norfolk with some home working and travel.


Redwings Horse Sanctuary campaigns to improve equine welfare in the UK and is well-known for its award-winning Stamp Out Strangles campaign, which aims to protect horses from the misery caused by the UK's most common equine infectious disease.


As part of this campaign we coordinate an international welfare collaboration to deliver a yearly Strangles Awareness Week event, and the charity is now seeking a dynamic and forward-thinking Campaigns Officer, who will have the opportunity to build on previous successes with this event and to drive the strangles campaign forward.

Reporting to the Redwings Campaigns Manager, you will be responsible for the administration of Strangles Awareness Week, the Stamp Out Strangles Pledge, and related and online and offline campaign activities.

In particular, you will work to maintain and develop our relationships with campaign collaborators and ambassadors as well as internal colleagues, with the aim of raising awareness and mobilising support amongst the horse-owning public and industry.

As part of this you will also attend internal and external events to represent and promote the organisation and recruit campaigners, requiring occasional weekend or overnight stays.

This is a very exciting opportunity for someone experienced in online or offline campaigning.

You will have first rate written and verbal communication skills, excellent horse care knowledge and a passion for animal welfare, and you will be fully committed to the aims and vision of Redwings.

JOB PURPOSE


To drive the charity's award-winning Stamp Out Strangles campaign, in particular the international collaborative event Strangles Awareness Week which happens every year in May and for which Redwings are the lead coordinators.

To assist with the delivery of campaign activities related to other topics as they arise.


Primarily to administer the Stamp Out Strangles Pledge, Strangles Awareness Week, and any other strangles related online and offline campaign activities.

Under the guidance of the Campaigns Manager, to work with colleagues including the Policy and Research Officer and the communications team to stay appraised of strangles and biosecurity advancements and engage a range of stakeholders in the campaign.


As a member of the Redwings Events team, to attend internal and external events to represent and promote the organisation and recruit campaigners, requiring occasional weekend and overnight stays.


SPECIFIC AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY AND TASKS:


Stamp Out Strangles Campaign:


  • To help deliver an impactful campaign to improve horse health and biosecurity behaviours.
  • To lead on coordination of Strangles Awareness Week, working closely with the Campaigns Manager and other Redwings colleagues and external stakeholders (UK and internationally).
  • To stay appraised of relevant strangles developments in the UK with support from the Policy and Research Officer.
  • To assist the Campaigns Manager with the delivery of any activities related to Strangles Awareness Week and the wider campaign.
  • To develop and maintain positive relationships with various relevant stakeholders.
  • To support, progress and reprioritise activities according to the project timeline.
  • To collect and present data for a range of internal and external stakeholders to monitor and evaluate the campaign and report to the Campaigns Manager to inform its future development.
  • To work flexibly to tailor communications and support to campaigns stakeholders with guidance from the Campaigns Manager to help them make use of materials in their area.
  • To assist with the preparation of presentations, social media plans and collection of digital content for the campaign including the Strangles Hub microsite, ecampaigns, Champion Facebook Group, and Redwings' social media channels.
  • To attend events and brief staff and volunteers to successfully recruit campaign supporters.
  • To follow brand guidelines to assist with the preparation and delivery of impactful multimedia communications outputs, working with external designers as needed to ensure cost effective delivery of externally delivered outputs such as campaigns materials and signage.
  • To administer the Campaign's MS Teams Channel and other software for efficient and motivating communication with collaborating partners.
  • To collate data to assist with planning and reporting monthly, quarterly and annually as required by the Head of Communications & Campaigns or Campaigns Manager.

Additional campaigning duties
