HMP Ashfield
**Full time, 40 hours, 8:00am

  • 4:30pm**
    Permanent

£28,895 per annum


The successful post holder for this role will be responsible to the academic course team leader for the provision of initial advice and guidance in HMP Ashfield's Education department.

The post holder will be given the opportunity to teach and develop courses in their field of expertise, placing an emphasis on supporting the addressing of offending behaviour and developing employability skills.

Some of the main duties of the role are listed below:

  • To create and maintain Individual Learning Plans, ensuring that regular targets are set and reviewed.
  • To monitor, mark and assess prisoners' work and progress and maintain such records as appropriate and to prepare prisoners for exams/ accreditation.
  • To keep thorough progress records concerning prisoner recruitment, retention and attainment data.
  • To monitor and evaluate courses and to provide feedback to the Skills Development Manager as requested; thus taking responsibility for the quality of your teaching.
  • To ensure that all equipment and facilities are used appropriately and safely.
  • To undertake any other duty which may reasonably be required to meet the needs of the contract

What you need to do the job


The successful post holder must demonstrate proven experience of working in an environment that demands flexibility and the ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.

It is key that they respond to identified needs by undertaking self-directed learning, research and training as required.

Similarly, they must establish internal/external associations as required and be able to form good working relationships.

Having experience of a custodial environment would be a strong advantage.
