Our Team is currently working on a vast project portfolio which is reshaping the entire energy sector in Scotland, with a focus on securing the UK's future energy security and net zero ambitions.

This role will require occasional travel to meet with our Supply Chain base and also to our projects around Scotland.


The role will require you to work closely with our Senior Supply Chain Manager and business leads to create a Supply Chain that is fit for future growth within the Power T&D business, particularly for the SSE ASTI Framework for the next 5 years.

The business is undergoing a substantial increase in turnover and will need an appropriate supply chain, taking into account Quality, Safety and Capacity of the overall supply chain as well as ensuring that the Safety and Quality management systems are fully developed and implemented, including Supplier Performance Management, Innovation, Supplier Relationship Management and Strategic Supplier Management.


What you'll be doing

  • Developing effective plans for management of key suppliers, including progress tracking and reporting.
  • Developing a full plan for the SSE ASTI Framework supply chain to manage business growth over the 5year pipeline of work including developing new suppliers and subcontractors where required via market analysis for key commodities within Power T&D to ensure a sustainable supply chain for delivery of projects.
  • To support a Strategic Supplier Management Programme for Power T&D including Corrective Action Plans and Continuous Improvement Plans.
  • To support a Supplier Relationship Management Programme for Power T&D including Corrective Action Plans and Continuous Improvement Plans.
  • To support Supplier Performance Management within Power T&D via our Jaggaer eProcurement system.
  • Work closely with Category Management to ensure key category strategies are aligned and prioritised and relevant BU representation is provided when required.
  • Review approved supplier numbers and work with colleagues and BUs to reduce to the necessary minimum over time.
  • Liaise with Safety, QA & Sustainability team and technical specialists as required.
  • Work to exceed expected quality standards, comply with processes at all times and contribute to improvements.
  • Proactively support the behavioural safety programme and agreed Sustainability plans for Power T&D.
  • Responsible for formulating and distributing management reports and dashboards as required by the business.
  • Demonstrate the Balfour Beatty Values at all times.
  • Contribute positively to the achievement of high performance across the team.

Who we're looking for

  • The role will benefit from previous experience of supply chain processes within a utilities related environment including working with both materials suppliers and subcontractors.
  • The role will require an appropriate style of stakeholder management that will deliver objectives while taking into account the skills, personality and needs of employees.
  • The individual will need to demonstrate a proven track record in Supply Chain Management.
  • The role will require an understanding of SLAs, KPIs and other ways to measure supply chain performance, strong project management skills, a measured approach to decision making and the ability to ensure best value procurement.
  • The role would benefit from someone with experience of delivering supply chain innovations from inception through to implementation.
  • The ability to adopt a pragmatic, yet disciplined approach to process compliance, is essential.
  • Excellent analytical skills, strong commercial awareness, a measured approach to decision making and the ability to ensure best value procurement.
  • Ability to use technology and comply to agreed systems.
  • MCIPS or studying towards MCIPS is advantageous.
