AFTER SCHOOL/HOLIDAY CLUB PLAYWORKER/PLAYLEADER - Start Date - As soon as possible (pending pre-employment checks)
SALARY SCALE:
Band 1 Pt2-3 Playworker (unqualified) - Actual salary £5638 per annum or Band 2, Pt 4-5 Playleader (qualified*) - Actual salary £584- NVQ2 or equivalent qualification
10 hours per week; Monday to Thursday 3pm to 5.30pm, holiday club shifts to be agreed (there will be an option to work overtime during the holidays too)

We are looking for a playworker (unqualified) or a playleader (qualified) to work in our popular after school and holiday club.
Wellfield Infant and Nursery School is a highly inclusive and successful two form entry infant school with a 52 part time place Nursery and a Small Specialist Class for pupils with Autistic Spectrum Disorder and Social and Communication Difficulties.
The club provides for pupils aged 3 to 11 years from both Wellfield Infant and Nursery School and Wellfield Junior School.
The two schools share a large and attractive site in Ashton on Mersey Village, Sale, with plenty of outdoor space.
Due to the rising number of pupils using this facility we are currently looking to expand our team.The role will involve:
- Working in close partnership with the club manager and the rest of the team
- Planning for and delivering a range of activities
- Supporting the rest of the club team with ensuring all policies and procedures are adhered to
- Communicating with parents/carers
- Maintaining good relationships with the school
The successful applicant will:
- Hold a Level 2 NVQ in Playwork or Childcare or other L2 or above qualification relevant to the job role (for the qualified pay scale). For the unqualified playworker role, no qualification is necessary.
- Have a sound understanding of Safeguarding children
- Have experience of working with and planning recreational activities for children aged 3 to 11 years and the ability to work on own initiative
- Be an effective communicator and an enthusiastic team player
- Be reliable and keep to good timekeeping
- Understand the importance of their role within the wider school team and remain professional at all times
- Hold a current Paediatric First Aid Certificate, (or be willing to undertake the training)
- Hold a Food Hygiene Certificate (or be willing to undertake the training)
