Job summary:


This role in the Northwood Change and CIS Team provides an opportunity to deliver critical CIS across the Northwood Headquarters site in conjunction with the Northwood Private Finance Initiative (PFI) Contractor and Defence Digital partners, to the UKStratCom, the Maritime Operations Centre and NATO MARCOM.

The UKStratCom at Northwood is responsible for providing the structure and coordination our Armed Forces need to keep us safe, ensuring we are responding to threats across all five domains; Air, Land, Sea, Cyber and Space.

The Maritime and NATO Commands have command and control over their respective surface and submarine assets.


As CIS Administrator you will be supporting in the delivery and sustainment of a variety of CIS platforms through the provision of physical support, guidance and expertise to multiple organisations and stakeholders located on the Northwood Headquarters and wider afield.


The post advertised is situated at Northwood Headquarters and offers a range of employment conditions to enable a better work-life balance for employees; flexible working patterns may be considered.

The post holder will be required to be present on site for the majority of the contracted working hours, but some remote working may be possible from time to time.

This position is advertised at 37 hours per week.


Job description:


The CIS Administrator post will be required to contribute on multiple fronts to support planning and installations of new hardware in network equipment rooms, delivery of new user access devices onto user workstations, house-keeping of network equipment rooms and business resilience planning and execution.

You will be required to coordinate work between the Private Finance Initiative (PFI) Contractor and Defence Digital and their industry partners.

You will also have a security role over network equipment rooms and a responsibility to ensure Ministry of Defence design and installation policy compliance and always encourage British Standard best practice.


You will provide business units and formations with change management advice aimed at assisting in identifying existing gaps in capabilities, continuous improvement, benefits and risks of proposed change activities.

Lead businesses units and formations through the four phases of management change, design, develop, deliver and sustain.


You will support customers to raise Northwood change requests and notices, including assistance to customers to develop statements of need, business impact statements, and provide advice about likely costs and timescales for tasks.

Provide a conduit between customers and delivery teams.

You will support the change quotation processes by scrutinising all quotations to ensure all appropriate rates have been used, correct overhead and profit margins have been applied correctly and reasonable maintenance and life-cycle costs have been included.

Provide ad-hoc contribution to maintaining Northwood corporate TV system, conference room AV equipment and telephony devices.
