Job Purpose


To support the delivery of the engagement strategy within schools, colleges, universities to raise awareness of the profession at every academic level, increasing understanding and promoting the benefits of a career in surveying.

This role is vital in influencing the future number of trainees enrolling with RICS and key to the growth of the business but also the profession.

As part of a team of staff and volunteers, the postholder will inspire young people into a career in the natural and built environment, helping to shape the places and spaces in which we all live and work.


Key Achievements & Responsibilities

  • Manage the coordination and delivery of locally based career and educational activities including Inspire workshops and other interactions.
  • Identify new opportunities to showcase the role of a surveyor.
  • Run campaigns which raise the profile of surveying and RICS e.g. Back to the Future, student awards, prizes, competitions.
  • Build and manage a work experience programme for students.
  • Collaborate with communications and marketing teams to ensure collateral for schools, universities and careers fairs is tailored, relevant, and engaging to the age of that audience.
  • Provide appropriate material to academic institutions to support their internal careers programmes.
  • Identify and recruit suitable members to fulfil ambassador roles, promoting to key demographics and proactively targeting underrepresented groups
  • Support colleagues with insight and information gathered from students and education providers on their views of the profession, how it is evolving, and helping to ensure our entry routes remain diverse and inclusive supporting those from all backgrounds, education levels and experiences into the surveying profession
  • Maintain key stakeholder engagement as executed through a contact strategy. Building and offering webinars and presentations to relevant audience.
  • Working in collaboration with communications teams ensure content on the RICS website and social media pages are frequently updated and relevant and timely contributions are added to support and promote the inspire agenda.

Experience Required

  • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal
  • Experience of business writing and professional telephone etiquette
  • Excellent presentation skills
  • Able to handle difficult people/situations in a professional, mature manner
  • Experience of working under pressure and towards unmoveable deadlines
  • Ability to influence and persuade others
  • Willing to work outside of core business hours to provide support packages
  • A sound understanding and ability to work with Microsoft packages
  • Ability to prioritise work daily to ensure team deadlines are met
  • Flexible and adaptable
