Our client is a successful Alternative Education Provsion based in central Bristol.

They have a proven track record of supporting young people with challenging backgrounds to become successful in life and their futures.

Led by an experienced, pro-active and dedicated Headteacher, the team of staff work hard and with a progressive ethos which are the key reasons for their success.


Never 'standing still', recently the school have implemented changes which have been very positively received by staff & students alike.

They have a brand new innovative curriculum, have updated their learning environments and have a policy of zero exclusions.

This has already had a positive impact reflected in increased attendance, improved positive behaviour and improved staff:
student relationships.


This post for a higher level teaching assistant (HLTA) will involve working with some of the most challenging teenage learners.

Students at this school have often missed large parts of standard education so a focus on learning as well as social development will be a key part of this role.

Mental health is a key focus for the school and you will have weekly 1:1 & coaching session with your line manager, weekly counselling & support sessions and other well-being benefits.

As a person, the right applicant will:

  • be experienced of working with young people with social, emotional and behavioural difficulties that can display challenging behaviours
- be resilient, positive natured and maintain composure when working in challenging situations
- be committed, empathetic and passionate about providing the best opportunity for the learners
- have a strong work ethic with a professional approach
- possess excellent Literacy and Numeracy skills (demonstrable levels equivalent to GCSE A-C/grade 4 or above)
- have previously worked working within one-to-one and small group environments
- contribute to individual education or development plans and working to learning goals/targets
