Lead Software Engineer - Cumbria - Permanent £60K-£65K
(Mon-Thursday working + Benefits)

Shorterm Group are currently working with a company with a history that is rich with innovation and creativity and who is a world leader in its field.


Responsibilities:

*Work closely with the design team, reporting progress, technical issues, schedule, and cost to management and project teams.
*Lead software development projects from initial concept to verification, validation, and certification, ensuring high-quality, sustainable products that meet stakeholder specifications are achieved.
*Produce formal documentation as required, and work in accordance with design milestones to guarantee that specifications are met and projects progress on time to the next stage.
*Review software design processes critically, identifying areas of improvement and implementing actions to promote maximum efficiency and continuous improvement.
*Monitor and maintain departmental documentation systems in accordance with design and project management processes, agreed procedures, and company standards.
*Provide support to other software engineers in the creation and maintenance of software documentation and C source code to the relevant project standards.
*Develop the skills of the software team to maintain the existing and future software products, arranging training for the software team when required.
*Mentor junior and less senior software engineers in technical aspects.

Qualifications:

Experience:

*Significant full life cycle software development within a relevant industry, ideally Aerospace, Military, or Automotive.
*Some experience of digital hardware design and interfacing.

Essential Skills:
*Embedded C
*MISRA C Safety Critical
*Microcontroller experience (16Bit & 8 Bit)
*Verification/Debugging knowledge (writing Test scripts, Low level Unit testing and Integration testing)
*Extensive knowledge of 8 and 16bit microprocessors/microcontrollers in including PIC18 and DSPIC
*Producing formal documentation in accordance with DO-178C and other standards
*Skilled in the use of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
*Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
*Excellent communication skills, written and presentation skills

Desirable Skills:
*Aerospace Standards DO-178C (preferred) or Automotive standards, LDRA (TBrun) experience.
*Electronic Hardware design knowledge schematic, PCB and simulation using Altium designer or similar

*A good communicator, well-presented, and sufficiently mobile and flexible to travel.
*Keen to adopt new experiences and responsibility to develop new skills and expand the knowledge base.
*Able to interface, present to, and gain technical credibility from the customer network.

Work Environment:
The role will be primarily office-based, with occasional travel as required.
