Job Scope:
The Procurement Officer is responsible for the provision of a complete procurement service for all of the
Society's needs. Working with the Procurement Manager, the post holder will ensure that the Society's
practices and procedures for procurement are optimal, and that procurement policies are updated and
monitored to reflect legislative changes and industry best practice. The Procurement Officer will be
responsible for timely analysis of the Society's spend, looking for insights and best practice, whilst being
able to give advice to budget holders on contract negotiation and contract management in line with the
Society's policies and procedures.

Salary:
£44,000 per annum
Responsibilities:
- Lead tender processes and negotiations in line with the Society's procurement policy to ensure value
- Advise the Society on all matters relating to procurement and review key contracts.
- Maintain a centralised contract register to provide oversight and proactively commence negotiations
- Communicate new procurement processes across the Society ensuring awareness across the
- Provide assistance in the management of supplier contracts as necessary.
- Ensure that potential suppliers are vetted appropriately and in accordance with the Society's policies.
- Maintain and monitor a preferred suppliers list.
- Support the Society's purchase order system, providing training and analysis as required.
- Deliver a procurement strategy including an annual procurement plan which identifies cost saving
- Continually develop procurement processes and procedures including standardised tender
- Provide ongoing review of procurement policies to ensure that they are in line with current legislation
- Manage the Society's managed travel services contract and support the Society's travel needs in line
Key Knowledge and Skills Required:
Essential
- Demonstrable experience in an indirect purchasing roleHighly numerate with strong
documents
- Demonstrable negotiation and persuasion skills
- Demonstrable experience of supplier negotiations and relationship management
Desirable
- Demonstrable experience of implementing new processes and procedures within an organisation
- An understanding of contract law
- CIPS qualification
