Job Description for Finance Assistant

Responsibilities:


  • Ensure daily reconciliation of the two main bank accounts and weekly reconciliation of other bank accounts.
  • Conduct weekly reconciliation of cash income
  • Execute fortnightly payment runs for the purchase ledger
  • Generate sales invoices in accordance with contracts
  • Manage monthly direct debit collections
  • Perform monthly credit card reconciliations
  • Post accruals, prepayments, accrued income, and deferred income journals as part of monthend procedures.
  • Compile debtors listings and communicate with appropriate departments for followup
  • Prepare quarterly VAT returns
  • Assist the Finance Director with monthend and yearend tasks

Essential Skills and Competencies:


  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel with basic skills such as sum, average, sort, and filter functions.
  • AAT Level 3 certification or equivalent relevant experience
  • Previous experience handling direct debits and VAT returns
  • Strong attention to detail

Desirable

  • Proficient in advanced Excel functions such as VLOOKUP, pivot tables, etc.
  • Experience using Sage 200 software.

Location
Abingdon

Hybrid role - minimum of 3 days a week in the office.


Compensation and Benefits

Salary:
£24,000 per year

Working Hours: 35 hours per week
