Description
St Beuno's Jesuit Spirituality Centre is in North Wales and is a work of the Jesuits in Britain (the Society of Jesus Trust, charity no St Beuno's has a full programme of about 200 retreats and courses all year round.

St Beuno's is well known, popular and in demand as a retreat destination by people across the UK and abroad.

The location is exceptionally beautiful and the house, built in 1848 and is a Grade II* listed Welsh historic monument.


The Fundraising & Marketing officer will grow voluntary income and market the retreats to a wider audience to support the mission of St Beuno's.


PRINCIPLE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
The following duties are not an exhaustive list but are an indication of the responsibilities of the post-holder:
Fundraising


  • Direct Mail
1.1. Independently plan and manage a portfolio of direct marketing campaigns including, but not limited to one-off & RG appeals, legacy marketing and supporter newsletters

1.2. Deliver each project from start to finish.

Source content and create briefs, liaise with suppliers and internal stakeholders, create and oversee data selections, exports and imports, and manage sign off process.


  • Bid writing
2.2. Identify local, regional and national grant making bodies.

Report on funder requirements, crafting narratives and financial reports


  • Legacy administration
3.1. Contribute to the development of plans for legacy income generation integrated with existing events, products and campaigns.

3.2. Contribute to the development of promotional materials for legacy fundraising.

3.3. Record and review all legacy development activity and produce reports as requested.


  • Data and reporting
4.1. Produce accurate campaign reports suggesting improvements.

4.3. Create complex print briefs, ensuring accuracy to avoid compliance breaches.


  • Budgets and finance
5.1. Support colleagues with annual planning and forecasting.

5.2. Monitor project progress against income and spend targets, identifying challenges that may affect achievement and communicate potential solutions.

Liaise with the Finance Officer to manage the timely payment of suppliers; adhering to processes and monitoring all spend accurately.

Marketing


  • Create content
- and engagement-based marketing efforts that capture the awareness and imagination of the public, drive interest in St Beuno's Spirituality Centre, and awaken desire in potential guests for personal and spiritual development.


  • Facilitate and steward the brand identity for the St Beuno's Spirituality Centre, including both the visual brand expression and the organization's editorial voice.
  • Develop and oversee a multichannel marketing and communications strategy that engages individual, parish and the wider Church audiences with St Beuno's Spirituality Centre programming. Plan, execute and lead organic and paid campaigns such as paid and organic social, SEM, Display, Podcast, TV, Radio, direct mail, etc.
  • Build dashboards for measuring and sharing results on business critical KPIs related to growth (volume, retention, LTV) and own achievement of monthly KPIs.
  • Develop an effective marketing and communications financial investment strategy and annual budget to educate, inspire, drive retreat bookings, and extend the St Beuno's Spirituality Centre mission and brand.
  • Devise a SEO strategy and cross-functional teams to execute programs that drive high-quality organic traffic.
  • Keep organization in touch with retreat centre market landscape and ensure that this intelligence is used in marketing strategy.

Budget management and cost analysis:
accountable for budgeting and tracking expenses for the Marketing & Communications department.

Person Specification

Essential

  • Sympathy and congruence with the values of St Beuno's
  • Proactive and strategic way of working, to reach out to new and existing supporters, retreatants, and stakeholders.
  • Demonstratable experience of effectively managing your own time and workload
  • Demonstratable experience in at least one of fundraising or marketing
  • Experience of retreats highly desirable, aptitude to quickly get across a brief is essential.
  • A confident selfstarter with highly developed interpersonal skills
  • Curiosity and passion for developing relationships.
  • Ability to work flexibly with colleagues in a small team.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Excellent IT skills including social media.
  • High levels of personal integrity and respect for others
  • Enthusiasm for personal growth & development.
  • Working understanding of GDPR and other relevant legislation.
Desirable

  • Demonstrable prior experience of fundraising or marketing successfully in comparable sized organisation
  • Experience of working within a Church context
  • Experience of building networks to magnify support and interest
