This role sits within the Risk and Resilience Team, which is part of a wider Quality and Risk function.

The role will suit an experienced practitioner who has been a member of an in-house team, but is now ready for their next challenge and opportunity to grow by taking responsibility for managing, maintaining and improving an established operational resilience framework.


  • You will be responsible for providing ongoing support and guidance to the firm's Service Lines, Central Client Service Functions and Locations in all aspects of Operational Resilience, and driving continuous improvement in the firm's Resilience capability.

The role will involve working with stakeholders at all levels of seniority to ensure Operational Resilience requirements are understood and met, and that the firm delivers against its commitment to, and increased expectations of, the industry, stakeholders, clients and regulators.


  • This role has a significant degree of autonomy, with the opportunity to make the operational resilience programme the role holder's own. This is a full time role and we're happy to talk flexible working to support you to balance your work and life.
A look into the role

As Operational Resilience Lead within our Risk and Resilience Team, you will:

  • Advise and influence, in line with the firms CLEARR values, Grant Thornton's senior management and other stakeholders on response, contingency and continuity strategy development.
Plan, coordinate, and lead regular validation activities including scenario-based exercising. Manage and drive continual development of the firm's incident response framework and capability to ensure it remains fit for purpose and that appropriate infrastructure/resources are available in the event of an incident. Ensure awareness of the importance of operational resilience through the maintenance of appropriate learning programmes and awareness material. Monitor and report on incidents affecting (or have the potential to impact) continuity of operations of the firm, whilst providing advice and support to the areas affected. Act as the National Crisis Management Team advisor, coordinator and primary point of contact; ensure that the crisis management plan and resources are maintained and that NCMT members have suitable training. Undertake defined resilience related project work as required. Promote the firm as a leading organisation on Operational Resilience to key stakeholders including responding to client due diligence questionnaires and requirements Work alongside the firm's Enterprise Risk Management Lead to ensure risk and resilience are aligned and that operational continuity risks are fully represented.
Knowing you're right for us

  • Joining us as Operational Resilience Lead, the minimum you'll need is demonstrable experience in Business Continuity Management or Operational Resilience, experience in creating and delivering exercising and validation from Strategic to Operational levels, and the ability to build positive relationships and work collaboratively with team colleagues, a remote network of risk champions, and stakeholders across the firm. You'll also need an ability to work independently and with a high level of autonomy, to be comfortable working with all levels of management, and to have knowledge of ISO 22301 and the BCI Good Practice Guidelines.


It would be great if you had some of the following skills, but don't worry if you don't tick every box, we'll help you develop along the way.

- Experience with managing physical security policy and incidents Familiarity with ISO 27001 Risk management experience CBCI or equivalent business continuity qualification A general understanding of the requirements of PS21/3 Building operational resilience and SS2/21 Outsourcing and third party risk management A digital mindset, with experience with Microsoft 365 toolsKnowing we're right for you
