Events and Data Capture


As a key member of the Marketing and Communications Team, you will manage and oversee the set-up of all University student recruitment and conversion events through our event management platform - currently Gecko.


  • You will support colleagues from across the institution in defining and understanding event requirements, while providing support and guidance on all activities and processes related to event management within the platform.
  • This is a fulltime, openended post (35 hours per week).

Salary:

£29,762 - £34,314 per annum (Grade 5)

Key Duties

  • Be responsible for the backend creation of over 350 university events each year in our event management platform (Gecko).
  • Execute the endtoend event creation process with stakeholders from helping to define requirements through to building booking forms, automated communications and providing insightful post event analytics.
  • Provide professional advice and guidance on event setup and best practice as well as processes and procedures to internal and external customers. Use judgement and creativity to suggest the most appropriate course of action where appropriate, and ensuring complex and conceptual issues are understood.
  • Establish strong working relationships with key internal and external stakeholders, developing appropriate communication channels and networks to support event management and wider student recruitment activities.
  • Maintain a sound understanding of the student recruitment journey working with colleagues across the department to enhance opportunities for improved student acquisition and conversion though technology and CRM solutions.
  • Be a proactive champion for centralised and sophisticated data management working with the CRM Manager to instil this practice.
  • Take responsibility for resolving issues independently within events and data management, using judgement and creativity to suggest the most appropriate course of action and ensuring complex and conceptual issues and solutions are understood by the audience.
  • Continually investigate and analyse opportunities for improvement with systems and processes which support your area of work, creating recommendation reports, supported by advances within technology and the event management/CRM space.
  • To liaise with IT and suppliers on any product developments that may impact event management of data capture.
  • Ensure that event management provision is delivered to the institution proactively, changing the delivery according to customer requirements.
  • Collaborate with others to make recommendations for developments of established processes and procedures.
  • Supervise specific project teams on an occasional basis to accomplish key objectives.
  • Identify opportunities to share knowledge and to subsequently deliver training related to Gecko usage, event management and data capture.
  • Undertake a variety of administrative duties to support the department.

Person Specification

Essential Criteria

Qualifications and Education

  • Degree/NVQ 4 or equivalent Professional membership/experience
    Knowledge, Skills and Experience
  • Substantial experience of working within CRM and/or event management. Experience of building processes and procedures based on stakeholder requirements.
  • 3. Able to demonstrate professional knowledge within event and data management to give advice and guidance to internal and external customers.
  • 4. Ability to set up standard office systems and procedures and make improvements as appropriate.
