Description
The key responsibilities of the Assistant Financial Accountant will include, but may not be limited to;

  • Working together with other team members to oversee the production of Group members' Annual Reports and Financial Statements for audit and publication. Liaising with external auditors to ensure that all financial statements are produced on time and witha clean audit report.
  • Assist in the preparation of the Group's consolidated Annual Financial Statements ensuring compliance with appropriate SORPs and accounting standards. Liaising with external auditors to ensure that all financial statements are produced on time and witha clean audit report.
  • Working together with finance teams, overseeing the management of group general ledger systems, ensuring that budgets and financial data are properly recorded, and ensuring that effective budgetary control is being managed.
  • Working together with finance teams, ensuring the timely production and issue of monthly management accounts, management reports and cash flow forecasts for the Group's subsidiaries.
  • Provide information that will inform the University's own monthly management accounts pack.
  • Working together with finance teams to prepare detailed annual budgets, financial forecasts and full year out-turn of income and expenditure for the Group's subsidiaries.
  • Assist with the preparation of detailed annual budgets, financial forecasts and full year out-turn of income and expenditure for the University.
  • Oversee the maintenance and reconciliation of control accounts for all entities.

Profile

  • Working towards a professional qualificaton
- i.e. ICAEW or ACCA;

  • Knowledge of financial reporting in the voluntary and/or public sector;
  • Knowledge of financial forecasting and complex budgeting;
  • Experience of operation at an equivalent level in dealing with complex and substantial organisations;
  • Experience of accounts, tax returns and budget preparation and control.
