Hackney Council

Rate - £400 per day

Your Role
This is a high-profile professional post with a significant impact on the Council's overall financial position, and in terms of broader corporate objectives


The post holder will:
- be responsible for managing a small team of surveyors and support staff.

  • Manager or work in project teams comprised of officers from different services as well as external consultants and contractors.
  • Have overall responsibility for managing the Council's Commercial Property Portfolio (400 properties); on of the Council's most important sources of revenue.
  • Develop and implement a Commercial Estate Management Strategy and supporting policies.
  • Prepare detailed financial reports in respect of current and forecasted income and expenditure.
  • Develop and acquisitions and investment strategy with the objective of enhancing the Commercial Property portfolio and increasing rental income.
  • Manage the Voluntary and Community Sector (VCS) property portfolio, exercising a high degree of political sensitivity, and working closely with a wide range of stakeholders ranging from Executive members, through to commercial tenants, and organisations from the VCS.
  • Provide high level professional advice which is likely to have a significant impact on the Council's ability to deliver key corporate programmes such as the Estate Regeneration programme and the office accommodation strategy.
  • Responsible for reviewing the current VCS lettings strategy and policies and for ensuring that all properties within the VCS portfolio are managed in line with this strategy and policy.
  • Develop and implement programmes of work including rent reviews, lease renewals, and programmes of capital investment in the commercial portfolio.
