Summer Visitor Centre Team Members

Near Great Yarmouth, Norfolk
Part time, fixed term seasonal posts

(2nd June 2023 to 21st September 2023)

_Please note that no holiday is permitted to be taken during this contract, accrued holiday will be paid at the end of the contract)._
22.50 hours per week

(Flexible across 7 days between 09.00am -5.00pm)


_(Minimum of 6 days training required during June)._
Salary £11,115.00 for over 18s'

£10,740.60 for under 18s'

(Subject to review 1st April)


In addition, we offer shift workers a premium pay rate on Sundays (time and a half) and Bank Holidays (double time).


  • Please note that this salary will be prorated to reflect the fixed term contract._

JOB PURPOSE
Recruiting and retaining Redwings' supporters and generating income.

To welcome visitors, introduce them to the charity's work and help to generate income through encouraging donations, promoting fundraising initiatives (including the charity's Adoption Scheme),

By working in the centres' Café (_including the kitchen_) and Gift Shop to encourage sales and generate income


Fundraising - Visitors and supporters


To deliver a positive and high-quality visitor experience to all visitors with the aim of recruiting and retaining Redwings' supporters.


Under the guidance of the Visitor Centre Manager (or Team Leader) to welcome visitors,
introduce them to the charity's work and how they can help to make a difference.


Generate income through encouraging donations, promoting fundraising initiatives and key messages including promoting the charity's adoption scheme, ensuring that visitors are given the opportunity to adopt and meet their chosen equine.


To be familiar with the Sanctuary's work, such as fundraising messages, and initiatives, appeals, updates and information on the charity's rescues and welfare work and communicating these to visitors.


Café and Gift Shop
To carry out duties in the centre's cafe, kitchen and gift shop as required. Adhering to internal and external rules and regulations to ensure compliance and maintain profit margins.

Under the guidance of your line manager, continually monitor displays, maintain stock levels and comply with all related procedures.

To be knowledgeable about the products, with emphasis on those that are environmentally friendly and sourced locally.

To always adhere to national hygiene standards and Redwings' catering and Health and Safety procedures.


General
Deliver an excellent visitor experience.

To undertake all transactions accurately and concisely.

To embrace working digitally, including but not limited to, processing online adoptions.


To maintain a high standard of housekeeping in all areas of the centre inside and out including gift shop, café, kitchen, toilets, staff areas, memorial garden (plaques, stones, and benches), play area, car park and walkways.


Working with colleagues


With other Team Members, the Team Leader, and Visitor Centre Manager to communicate effectively and deliver feedback in a positive and constructive manner, ensuring information and messages are passed along in the agreed format and appropriate manner.

With Trading colleagues to adhere to best practice regarding gift procedures and the till system.

With the Equine Team to present a positive and informative Redwings visitor and supporter experience regarding our adoption equines.

With Farm team colleagues to keep up to date on equines and site activities and keep them informed

With Supporter Engagement colleagues regarding Fundraising messaging, In Memory, procedures and fundraising best practice and regulations.

With Finance colleagues regarding financial procedures and requests.

With Communications colleagues to update on site signage requirements, opening information, etc.

Education/Qualifications

  • Evidence of a good standard of general education and computer literacy in word and excel.
