This post provides an exciting opportunity to join an expanding Respiratory team and be given the opportunity to continue learning and specialising in particular areas.

We are looking for highly motivated colleagues with excellent communication and team working skills who want to deliver the best respiratory care for our local population.

You will have hold MRCP (or equivalent) and you must be fully registered with the GMC and be on its register, or within six months of obtaining your CCT.

These posts seek to combine your commitment to Respiratory Care, recognising that you may also wish to retain an interest in a specialist field.


The Respiratory Department at Royal Bolton Hospital is a friendly, dynamic and innovative team that were at the forefront of managing COVID-19 having seen some of the highest rates in the UK.

The efforts of the team were recognised by Respiratory Wards winning the Executive Recognition Award at the "For A Better Bolton Awards" ceremony and an invitation for one of the Respiratory Consultants to meet the Prime Minister at Number 10.


The Trust is looking to recruit one Respiratory Consultant to grow the team and allow further innovation and specialisation to occur.

The posts will primarily be based at the Royal Bolton Hospital and support the delivery of a seven-day Respiratory Consultant service on a 1 in 8 Respiratory rota, with mínimal GIM commitment.


We are happy to consider flexible working requests, such as part time or annualised hours, but you will be expected to work shifts on a rota that reflects and supports the needs of the department.

NHS Bolton Foundation Trust is a fully integrated trust meaning that we have fantastic links into our community services and many services provided are fully integrated.

The department is comprised of two Acute Respiratory Wards, a Specialist Nursing Team providing integrated care across acute and community settings, and has a Specialist Respiratory Physiology Department provided in the community.
