In this role, you'll play a pivotal part in ensuring our operational risks are managed effectively within our risk appetite framework. Your expertise will help maintain and enhance our Enterprise Risk Management Framework (ERMF) while engaging with business leaders to embed a culture of risk awareness across the Society.

What will you be doing?

  • As our Enterprise Risk Business Partner, your key tasks and responsibilities will include:
  • Leading second-line oversight for operational risk, ensuring the validity, completeness, and appropriateness of operational risks within our risk registers.
  • Enhancing operational risk awareness among senior management and the Board, supported by the Enterprise Risk Manager.
  • Driving improvement in risk competency and capability across the Society, focusing on our Risk Champion community.
  • Enhancing the quality of secondline risk reporting and supporting the development of operational risk reporting and metrics.
  • Improving the quality of departmental risk registers through workshops, detailed reviews, and onetoone support for Risk Champions.
  • Providing training and presentations on operational risk across all levels of the Society.
  • Supporting oversight of operational risk matters arising from business change, including project and program meetings.
  • Leading thematic risk reviews in partnership with other secondline members.
  • Supporting oversight of the Society's Controls Assurance Testing regime and action tracking.

What type of person will you need to be?

  • To excel in this role, you'll need strong leadership and influencing skills to guide stakeholders, including executives, towards effective risk strategies. Your analytical abilities will be essential for identifying root causes of risks and devising proactive mitigation plans. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, are crucial for conveying complex concepts, including presenting to the Board. You should work dynamically, maintaining attention to detail while keeping the big picture in mind.
  • We're looking for someone with a degreelevel qualification and a minimum of 3 years' experience in a 2nd line risk role or third line assurance role. You should have a core understanding of all risk types, including prudential risk, and expert knowledge of operational risk management theory and practices.
