Responsibilities:


  • Senior role within a first line of defense team that oversees Markets and Securities Services sanctions risk and controls globally.
  • Work collaboratively with Front Office, Operations, and Technology to assess sanctions risks on a client and product basis and evaluate sanctions controls. Support design and implementation of control enhancements, where needed.
  • Maintain current knowledge and understanding of new and changing sanctions requirements and continuously reassess the impact on Markets and Securities Services clients, products, and services.
  • Perform initial pretransaction review for permissibility, including factfinding and assessment against relevant sanctions requirements; escalate to Compliance and Legal, where needed.
  • Actively participate in Markets and Securities Services response to new sanctions programs, including communication framework, identification of existing touchpoints and exposures, and consideration of changes to control environment.
  • Serve as an escalation point for issues or emerging risks to work with the business, Operations, and others to remediate.
  • Maintain oversight through review of metrics, monitoring of activity, and tracking of corrective action plans.
  • Prepare presentations to update senior management and various governance committees on sanctions developments, emerging risks, control issues and/or enhancements.
  • Partner with other colleagues, as needed, to support sanctions initiatives and other Financial Crimes Riskrelated projects.

Qualifications:


  • 10+ years experience at a financial institution, consulting firm, law firm, regulator, or similar experience; Compliance or Legal background preferred.
  • Must have knowledge of both economic sanctions (OFAC mandatory, EU and UK preferred) and securities products and services (including equities, bonds, derivatives, FX, prime, and custody).
  • Strong fact finding and analytical skills required.
  • Able to make evidencebased decisions and execute.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills mandatory.
  • Can work independently and effectively in a large, global corporate environment.
  • Understands sense of urgency and deadlines.
  • Capable of juggling multiple tasks and recalibrating as priorities change.

Education:


  • Bachelor's/University degree or equivalent experience, MBA or JD a plus
