Description

Date:2 Aug 2023

Location:
Woking - United Kingdom, UK

Company:
Plan International

The Organisation
Plan International is an independent development and humanitarian organisation that advances children's rights and equality for girls.

We believe in the power and potential of every child. But this is often suppressed by poverty, violence, exclusion and discrimination. And it's girls who are most affected.

Working together with children, young people, our supporters and partners, we strive for a just world, tackling the root causes of the challenges facing girls and all vulnerable children.

We support children's rights from birth until they reach adulthood. And we enable children to prepare for - and respond to - crises and adversity. We drive changes in practice and policy at local, national and global levels using our reach, experience and knowledge.

We have been building powerful partnerships for children for over 85 years, and are now active in more than 80 countries.

Role Purpose
Plan International Worldwide (PWW) is made up of 20 National Organisations (NOs) and Plan International Inc (PII).

PWW prepares voluntary combined financial statements under International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS), while PII is legally required to prepare standalone consolidated financial statements under US GAAP.

Financial statements for both PWW and PII are prepared centrally at Plan International's Global Hub (GH) using SAP Business Planning and Consolidation (BPC).

  • NOs are independent legal entities whose principal activity is fundraising, executing development programmes and humanitarian operations.
  • PII is a New York Stateregistered notforprofit corporation, and its principal activities are planning, managing, and executing development programmes and humanitarian operations across 58 countries. PII's activities are coordinated through four global, regional hubs (Americas, Asia Pacific, Middle East, Eastern and Southern Africa and West and Central Africa). PII is funded through donations received from its member NOs.
As independent legal entities, NOs prepare local GAAP financial statements under local guidance. They must also submit IFRS-compliant financial statements for use in the PWW combined financial statements.
