Santander Consumer Finance UK (SCUK) is based in Redhill, Surrey and provides motor finance to a network of dealerships throughout the United Kingdom.

SCUK has a number of joint venture arrangements with key manufacturers and also trades on behalf of a numberof manufacturers including Mazda, KTM, Yamaha, McLaren and MG.


We have an exciting opportunity for an individual to join the Compliance team as a Compliance Officer, working alongside a small but dedicated team, to deliver a first-class compliance function.

Reporting to one of the Compliance Managers, your role willbe to ensure the business operates in accordance with all applicable laws, rules and regulations whilst supporting the strategy and commercial aims of the business.

This is a varied role where no two days are the same.

You will be responsible for delivering effective measures for prevention or identification, management and control of regulatory, conduct and reputational risks.

You will have the opportunity of rotatingjob role every 6 months or so, across the team of Compliance Officers and the different disciplines within the Compliance team.


What you'll be doing
The role responsibilities will include;

General Responsibilities

  • Assist the Compliance Managers and Head of Compliance with daytoday management of compliance matters within the business and ensure department goals are met
  • Ensure appropriate and timely engagement with stakeholders and build internal relationships to foster a collaborative working environment
  • Escalate any compliance issues to the Compliance Manager
  • Minute compliance committees and fora including management of actions
  • Manage compliance mailboxes and address queries in a timely and appropriate manner
  • Provide compliance sign off as required by the business
  • Assist in compliance and business projects as required as Compliance support
  • Attend external meetings and events as required

On a rotation basis, you will focus on each of the following;
Data Protection

  • Work queries within data protection mailbox in a timely manner
  • Report, escalate and record breaches and incidents appropriately and within regulatory and business timescales
  • Follow up on remediation where necessary
  • Review DPIAs within business SLA and liaise with the relevant stakeholder to address any issues
  • Review LIAs as required
  • Assist in the drafting of any policy and/or process changes as directed by the Compliance Manager
  • Escalate key concerns to the Compliance Manager
  • Assist the Compliance Manager in ensuring data protection is embedded within the business
  • Assisting with MI collation
  • Assisting the Compliance Manager with any regulatory information requests
  • DP champion for the business. Will include awareness sessions and assisting in training
Compliance Monitoring

  • Assisting the Compliance Manager responsible for compliance monitoring with information gathering, reviewing information, and assisting with report drafting where needed
  • Undertake monitoring reviews as dictated by the compliance monitoring plan
  • Assist with the development of the annual compliance monitoring plan
Financial Crime

  • Review gifts and hospitality submission in line with business processes and escalate as required
  • Review charitable donations in line with business processes
  • Review on boarding cases and manage with the appropriate stakeholders
  • Minute relevant FC committees and fora as required
Dealer Oversight

  • Assist the Compliance Manger responsible for dealer oversight, in carrying out dealer reviews
  • Review data for monthly Dealer Oversight forum and report areas of concern to the Compliance Manager
  • Minute Dealer Oversight forum and follow up on any actions
  • Manage dealer queries from the business on behalf of the Compliance Manger
Reporting

  • Assist with monthly compliance reporting
  • Assist with the collation of reporting to regulatory bodies on a regular and ad hoc basis
Horizon

  • Keep up to date with regulatory changes
  • Assist in the drafting of horizon bulletins to the business on upcoming regulatory changes

What we're looking for

  • Strong working knowledge of the UK regulatory framework, including FCA rules and guidance in relation to Consumer Credit (ideally, more specifically Motor Finance)
  • Previously worked within the parameters of the regulatory environment
  • Ability to analyse, evaluate and communicate issues
  • Excellent interpersonal and customer care skills
  • Strong MS Office skills (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and oral, with excellent attention to detail
  • Ability to work on own initiative
  • Good analytical skills with excellent time management with the ability to multitask with tight deadlines
  • Willingness to study for a compliance related qualification
