Description
About the role

This is a new and unique opportunity to provide trusted advice and support to the senior political and managerial leadership of Cambridgeshire County Council.

What will you be doing?

Working directly with our Chief Executive and Leader of the Council, daily, you'll ensure that they are equipped with the briefings, insight, and analysis to enable them to perform their roles internally and externally with our partners.

To do so, you'll work hand in hand with our Corporate Leadership Team and very closely with our Legal and Governance, Executive Support and Communications Teams.

About you

Given the blend of proactive and reactive work that the role entails, we're looking for someone who is astute, organised, and meticulous.

Combined with the analysis and authoring skills necessary to communicate with confidence and brevity, you'll be able to influence constructively, listen actively and respond quickly.

Confident in providing advice and ensuring actions are delivered through others, you'll need to be comfortable representing the views of our most senior leaders in a range of environments.

Discretion and confidentiality will also be part of your skill set, because you'll be privy to sensitive and emerging information and data, regularly.

A genuine commitment to and interest in democracy and local government will also be essential.

To match these requirements, we're ideally looking for someone who has experience of working at a relatively senior level in a private office or public policy remit.

However, we're open to people from different sectoral and professional backgrounds, recognising that this role is very much about you, your skills, and the ability to forge strong and trusted relationships quickly and well.

We're asking for a lot, we know. However, this really is an opportunity second to none.

It will open up new avenues, it will be intellectually stimulating, it will be challenging and, yes, it will be a career accelerator.
