The Role:
The Senior Strategic Bids Manager plays a key role in our Strategic Bids Team ("SBT") for Europe, Middle East and Asia.
You will lead the bids process (from qualification through to client feedback) across multiple, multi-jurisdictional bids at any one time, working on all bid types including high-value projects, transactions and legal panel appointments.
Reporting to the regional Head of Bids, you will have responsibility for the day-to-day management and work allocation of a well-respected team of five bids professionals.
Key Responsibilities:
You will be based in our London office working alongside the wider Marketing & Business Development function to support lawyers across Europe, Middle East and Asia.
We operate a flexible working policy where you will need to be in the office at least twodays a week.
Bid Leadership & Execution:
- Guiding the partnership to win and retain profitable mandates and legal panel appointments
- Working and influencing strategically to provide direction across the entire bids process
- Opportunity qualification, bid planning, win theme development, operational delivery workshops, bid management critical path analysis, risk analysis and identifying bid resource needs
- Establishing and achieving timelines, approvals and governance
- Understanding and leading opportunities cohesively across our global network
- Gathering and collating client feedback to create a cycle of continuous improvement
- Liaising with clients to develop an understanding of their needs
- Writing and editing content so that it is fitforpurpose
Strategic Bid Team Management:
- Acting as the team's leader and helping them to develop their core bid management skills
- Working with the Head of Bids to coach the bid team
- Delivering strategic projects and supporting change management
Skills and Experience:
- Proven project management/bid management skills
- Absolute attention to detail
- Ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines
- Ability to liaise confidently and build relationships with people of all levels, creating confidence in your approach
- Strong English language skills for drafting, editing and proof reading
- Agile approach to workload and demonstration of flexibility to meet the demands of a diverse global law firm
- Experience as a bid manager working on complex, multijurisdictional/multioffice/multipractice area bid responses
- Experience leading and coaching a team of bid professionals at all levels
- Experience of bids and bidding in a professional services environment would be beneficial but not essential
